Bert took his Saint Bernard to the vet. "Doctor," he said, "I need you to
cut off my dog's tail."
The vet stepped back, shocked. "Bert, why should I do such a terrible
thing?"

"Well, my wife's mother is arriving tomorrow, and I don't want there to be
*anything* to make her think she's welcome."
